Strengthening Families
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a nationally and internationally recognized parenting and family strengthening program for high-risk families. SFP is an evidence-based family skills training program found to significantly reduce problem behaviors, delinquency, and alcohol and drug abuse in children and to improve social competencies and school performance. Child maltreatment also decreases as parents strengthen bonds with their children and learn more effective parenting skills.

END (End Nicotine Dependence) Classes
END is a tobacco cessation program designed especially for teens. The program not only builds skills and knowledge concerning tobacco use. It also focuses on developing a wide variety of social skills, including communication, stress management, decision making, goal setting, nutrition and physical activity. The modules consist of techniques to influence teen tobacco users’ knowledge, attitudes, intentions, beliefs, self-awareness, and self-efficacy. END is appropriate for implementation in schools, community agencies, and juvenile court districts and is designed for use with junior and senior high school smokers and smokeless tobacco users. Becoming A Love & Logic Parent
Becoming a Love & Logic Parent provides simple and practical techniques to help parents and teachers have less stress and more fun while raising responsible kids. Love & Logic participants learn the importance of giving lots of choices, thus, sharing control with their children. In doing so, parents find that they actually take back the control they feel they have lost. Rather than lecturing, Love & Logic teaches that letting empathy and natural and logical consequences do the teaching, they become more relaxed and less stressed at the end of the day. This program helps increase confidence as a parent and brings fun back into the most important job you’ll ever do…being a parent. Check out our Calendar to see the next scheduled session.
Community Character Initiative
The South Salt Lake Community Character Initiative was developed to connect the different segments of our community together. Each month, a new character theme is introduced accompanied by stories, quotes, and activities that can be used to reinforce that theme. These materials will be available at participating schools, businesses, and community locations. The initiative is designed to support healthier, happier schools, families, businesses, and community, and features monthly character themes through highlighting positive attributes of people who live, work, or worship in SSL.
